De La Garza Residence

This 2-story Texas residence required a reroofing job, which necessitated tearing off the existing shingles and installing a new roof onto the decking. Southwest Metal Roofing Systems, San Antonio, manufactured and installed 13,000 square feet (1208 m2) of 24- gauge standing-seam metal roof in a medium-bronze Ultra-Cool Kynar 500 color. San Antonio-based Lifetime Metal Products supplied the metal. SDP Advanced Polymer Products Inc., Toronto, supplied the PALISADE synthetic underlayment, which reduced the threat of exposure compared to felt. Installation was difficult because the roof varied in slope from 12:12 to 16:12 (45 to 53 degrees). From tear-off and dry-in to completion, the project took about six weeks.
