Houston-based MBCI has added bone white and solar white to its standard color offering. Both are Energy Star–qualified colors for steep- or low-slope roofing applications. Bone white, a Kynar 500 color, has an initial solar reflectivity (SR) value of 0.70 and a solar reflective index (SRI) of 85, while Solar White, a siliconized polyester, offers an initial SR value of 0.74 and an SRI of 91. Solar reflectivity is the ability of a material to reflect solar energy from its surface back into the atmosphere. The SR value is a number from zero to 1.0. A value of zero indicates total absorbance and 1.0 indicates complete reflection. Visit www.mbci.com.
