Fine Points: The local government granted permission for this shopping complex when consumer spending dropped in the Baden Baden area. It was constructed where a former barracks of the French armed forces once stood. Covering 260,000 square feet (24154 m2), the mall consists of two round buildings joined by a covered passageway. The outer skin is clad with aluminum standing-seam panels, which achieve the complex geometry required for sections of the buildings.
