The Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan, N.Y., is undergoing a transformation with the installation of 6,000 square feet of Mediamesh woven metal fabric from GKD-USA. Mediamesh is a transparent advertising and communication platform made of stainless steel fabric with integrated LED profiles. The façade will hide the terminal’s steel overlay but its 57 percent open area ensures views from inside will not be obstructed. The project features 16 panels that contain 1.325 million LED diodes. Panels are tensioned stainless steel metal fabric installed on two sides of the building. More than 265,000 pixels arranged 2 inches apart vertically and 1 1/2 inches horizontally ensure daylight suitability and video compatibility of the display.
